Eldership

Lead Preaching Pastor Lonnie D. Bell, Jr - Staff ElderI am a believer in the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ, who is my life and hope. I am married to my best friend and high school sweetheart, Jennifer, and am the proud daddy of three sweet kids, Jacob, Adeline, and Olivia.I’m originally from North Carolina, where I served churches as an Interim Senior Pastor and Youth Pastor. I came to Four Corners in 2015 after completing my Ph.D. in New Testament at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. My dissertation research was focused on the earliest Greek manuscripts of the Gospel of John. I received a B.A. in History and Religious Studies from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a M.Div. in Advanced Biblical Studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.I enjoy traveling with my family, running, reading Christian classics, eating Indian food, going to the movies with my wife, and playing with my kids. I love studying the Bible and consider it a great privilege to teach it weekly to God’s people as a pastor. My favorite passage is Psalm 1, which reminds me of the sufficiency and life-giving power of the Scriptures. I pray that our time in God’s Word will grow our awe of Christ, resulting in greater love, trust, and service for “the sake of his name” (Romans 1:5).

Lay Elder Walt Sellers

To say that I was involved in bad things with bad people as a teenager was an understatement. No one needed to tell me that I was a sinner. I knew I was, and I knew that I deserved condemnation. By His grace, the Lord Jesus spoke into my life through a friend and my grandfather. My life, my attitudes, and my desires immediately changed. The Holy Spirit caused me to fall in love with Jesus and with the Bible. Forty-four years later, this same passion for knowing Jesus and His Word still drives me.

Today, I am married to my best friend, Sharon, who has been God's greatest human gift to me for over 33 years. We have to married children and many unofficial adoptees. From the Scriptures, Sharon and I see ourselves as partners in life and in the Gospel. She supports me while I serve people as the president of several businesses. The primary business is Sellers' Mechanical Services, now in its 20th year. We have attended FCC since 2011 and are thankful for and humbled by opportunities to serve and be served.

I enjoy hunting, fishing, hiking, golfing, swimming, biking, and scuba diving. When possible, I prefer reading, studying, and doing paperwork outside. Even yard work appeals to me. I love God's creation, and am thankful for and humbled by His call to be a builder in and steward and protector of: My marriage, Christ's Church (specifically FCC), relationships that God gives me, and then things like my businesses. By God's grace and the Holy Spirit's power, I strive to do these things. I love this adventure of life that God gives me here, but most of all, I love that I get to spend eternity with Jesus!

Lay Elder Ken Speir

I realize daily that I am, as Paul said, the "chief of sinners" and fully unworthy and unable to hope to be with my Lord and Savior without the cleansing blood of a resurrected Jesus Christ. I tell all the children in the church that I am “old and almost dead,” but my state is so much better now than when I was dead in trespasses and sins before the Lord pricked my heart. I will never be the same again. I have been Michelle’s husband for over 30 years and have three children and one precious grand-daughter.

I am an ex-Air Force fighter pilot, a Delta pilot, and currently work at the Delta headquarters offices more than I should. I’ve lived all over the world but Four Corners called us “home” to live in downtown Newnan. We are amazed that the Lord has totally changed our course and placed our family right where He wants us and right where we needed to be for sanctification, maturity and growth in His word and in His ways. We are blessed by so many from such diverse places in our “body” at Four Corners. The body of the church has become part of our DNA, and we are so thankful.

My passion for our body is to learn, teach, explore, utilize, challenge and expound on the Scriptures. Then, I hope we pattern our lives to serve and love (as close to the example of Jesus Christ) in our community and in our daily lives. My desire is for Four Corners to be a “real” and a “loving” church. We are broken sinners, saved by grace. That’s it.

I love baseball, my Braves, football, my Western Carolina Catamounts, running, golf and flying. My wife, Michelle, is a saint. I struggle with balance in my life and I love to serve—almost to a fault.

Administrative Assistant Doug Coburn

My wife Sharon and I have attended Four Corners Church (FCC) since early 2009. We have seen it grow from being a young church plant (the church-in-the-bar!) to an established church body with a mature Elder Board and an express mission to honor our great God!

I finished college with a BS from Florida State University (Criminology) and a MA from the University of Maryland (Education), served in the US Army, and retired from a career in human resources administration with the State of Georgia. My wife and I have two grown children, and we both have been active in church for over 40 years. During that time, Sharon and I have taught at various levels of children's ministry-- one of the greatest compliments given me by my grown son is that I am the only person he has ever known whose "best friends are 4 years old".

Thank God for his grace in saving us, sustaining us, and ultimately taking us to live with Him. Soli Deo Gloria!
